The restaurant décor has that standard pizza place vibe. We arrived around 5pm on a Sunday evening and the bar section was already hopping. Most the tables in the restaurant were filled when we left about an hour later.
My wife tried the Crispy Fried Oysters with creamed Spinach, Curry Aioli, Black Salt, and Lemon. She really loved them.
I decided on a Bacon Wrapped Meatball Sub on a Baguette with Mozzarella, Marinara, and House Chips for my entrée. The Meatball had a great taste complimented by the bacon flavor. I would order this again for sure.
As a side I ordered the Mac Daddy Mac & Cheese with Morbier, Asiago, Gorgonzola, and Parmesan Cheeses. I am always a little cautious about ordering Mac & Cheese made with some many different cheeses. Often the balance is not right and one cheese creates the dominate flavor making you wonder why all the others are in the dish. Here the cheese combined to create a smooth pleasant flavor blend. I especially like it was served in a cast iron square mini server which keeps food warm through the meal.
My wife was very happy with the Baby Wedge Salad with Smoked Gorgonzola Dressing, Bacon, Tomato, and Crisped Onions.
I had the Butterscotch Bread Pudding with Whipped Cream. My favorite dessert anywhere is butterscotch pudding. This came in as a close second. Served warm, it is worth a trip to Oak Stone Pizza just for the dessert and coffee.
My wife had the Warm Apple Tart Topped with Cinnamon Ice Cream and Caramel. The tart was baked nicely with a wonderful flaky crust.
Yelp reviews are positive with a 4.5 stars rating, many saying the restaurant is often very busy. They take reservations for parties of 6 or more and wait times can exceed an hour during peek weekend times. Our waiter was nice and checked on us often. Expect Chef and owner Patrick Dinh to continue with a fun solid menu. Dinh had been the Executive Chef at Tuscarora Mill in Leesburg for more than 20 years. He knows quality dishes and has a winning staff here. Oak Stone Craft Pizza is a welcome addition to the struggling Winchester restaurant scene.
will have to try and check this out when I am in Md. the week of July 16th..
